Learn about what exactly accessibility means in the context of nonprofit websites.

I start with a quick definition and overview of website accessibility. Then I give two common examples of accessibility issues (color contrast ratio and alternative text) that I see on lots of websites and help fix for my clients.

Definition: Website accessibility is the practice of designing and developing a website so that all individuals, no matter their ability, can use it. This means being able to access all of a website’s information, being able to navigate through, and interact with every feature it may have.

Overview: Just like how there are ADA standards for making physical buildings accessible for individuals with disabilities, there is a set of web standards that help ensure websites are usable for people with auditory, cognitive, neurological, physical, speech, and visual disabilities.

Now that you know what website accessibility is, stay tuned for my next video where I share four reasons why it is so important, especially for nonprofits.
